Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited the child rape survivor from Magura at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on Sunday morning.
According to a press release signed by Faisal Hasan, Public Relations Officer (Director) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the advisor inquired about the child’s treatment and instructed hospital authorities to ensure the highest level of medical care.
Earlier, on the day of the incident (March 6), he personally contacted the child’s mother to check on her condition and assured the victim’s family of full government support for medical treatment. On Saturday, the child was transferred from Dhaka Medical College Hospital to CMH for better medical care.
Regarding the case, the advisor confirmed that a case had been filed at Magura Sadar Police Station against four accused, all of whom had been arrested. He stated that law enforcement agencies had been instructed to take a strict stance against crimes like harassment and rape. Additionally, all past cases of violence against women are being compiled for swift investigation and court proceedings.
He further assured that justice would be ensured for all recent rape incidents, and perpetrators would face the harshest punishment. Women should be able to move freely and fulfill their responsibilities without fear, and anyone attempting to hinder this through violence would be brought under the law without exception.
Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury emphasized the need for public awareness against gender-based violence, urging everyone to uphold family, social, and moral values to prevent such crimes.
