The body of the 8-year-old girl who died while undergoing treatment after being raped in Magura was brought from the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital to her village. Upon arrival in Magura, the first funeral prayer was held at Nomanir Maidan in the city at 7:30 PM, attended by thousands of people. The body was then taken to the village, where a second funeral prayer was held before her burial at a local cemetery that night. Earlier, at around 5:30 PM on Thursday, a military helicopter carrying the child’s body departed from Tejgaon Old Airport in Dhaka and arrived in Magura at approximately 6:15 PM.
Among those present were advisors from the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Farida Akhter, regional leaders from the National Citizens Party, as well as officials like the Magura Deputy Commissioner and Police Superintendent. The child had been fighting for her life for several days before passing away on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 PM while being treated at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
She had been under intensive care in the hospital’s pediatric department. Despite multiple instances of cardiac arrest, the child’s condition worsened, leading to her transfer to CMH after she had been moved between several hospitals, including Magura Sadar Hospital, Faridpur Medical College, and Dhaka Medical College. The incident occurred on March 5th, when the child was visiting her sister’s house in Magura and was brutally assaulted late at night. After her mother’s complaint, four individuals, including the child’s brother-in-law, were arrested in connection with the assault.
