UN Secretary-General Departs Dhaka After Four-Day Visit

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has departed from Dhaka after a four-day visit. He left on Sunday morning, March 16.
Before his departure, he was seen off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser on Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, along with Khalilur Rahman, the High Representative of the Chief Adviser on the Rohingya Crisis.
Prior to leaving, Guterres had a phone conversation with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, exchanging farewell greetings.
During his visit, the UN Secretary-General met with the Chief Adviser and other high-ranking officials. He also visited the Rohingya refugee camps, reaffirming the UN’s commitment to ensuring their dignified repatriation. On the third day of his visit, he participated in a roundtable discussion with members of the National Consensus Commission, political leaders, Bangladeshi youth, and civil society representatives.
This marked Guterres’ second visit to Bangladesh, arriving on the afternoon of Thursday, March 13, after a seven-year gap. At the airport, he was welcomed by the Interim Government’s Foreign Affairs Adviser, Towhid Hossain.
