Abrar Fahad’s Father Satisfied with the Verdict, Seeks Swift Implementation

The High Court has upheld the lower court’s verdict in the murder case of BUET student Abrar Fahad, maintaining the death sentences of 20 individuals and life sentences for 5 others. The bench, led by Justices A.K.M. Asaduzzaman and Syed Enayet Hossain, dismissed the appeals of the accused on Sunday. Following the ruling, Abrar Fahad’s father, Barkat Ullah, expressed his satisfaction with the verdict and emphasized the need for swift implementation. Abrar’s younger brother, Abrar Faiyaz, also stated that he never anticipated such a quick verdict a year ago and hopes the remaining procedures will be expedited. He emphasized that a timely execution of the sentence would serve as a deterrent to prevent similar incidents in the future. Meanwhile, the defense lawyers expressed their dissatisfaction, claiming they were denied justice and announced their intention to appeal. The Attorney General and other officials were present during the verdict announcement, along with the lawyers for the accused and family members of Abrar Fahad.
