Two Senior Police Officials Temporarily Suspended

The government has temporarily suspended DIG Molla Nazrul Islam, formerly the GMP Commissioner and currently attached to the Sardah Police Academy in Rajshahi, along with Abdul Mannan, the former Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sylhet.

 

On Monday, the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued two separate notifications confirming their suspension. The notifications were signed by Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani on Sunday, March 16, under the authority of the President.

 

According to the notifications, DIG Molla Nazrul Islam was arrested on February 9 in connection with a case filed at Gulshan Police Station on October 5 last year. Consequently, he has been suspended under Section 39(2) of the Government Service Act, 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018), effective from February 9.

 

Similarly, in another notification, it was stated that Abdul Mannan, who was attached to the Rangpur Range DIG office, was arrested on February 9 following a case filed at Gopalganj Model Police Station on January 8. He was subsequently presented in court and sent to Sylhet Jail. As a result, he has also been suspended under Section 39(2) of the Government Service Act, 2018, effective from February 9.

 

The notifications mention that both officials will be entitled to subsistence allowances as per regulations.
