Bangladeshi among two wounded in Myanmar border firing

A shooting incident at the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Bandarban’s Naikhongchhari area left two people injured, including a Bangladeshi. The incident occurred near the zero line at Tumbru’s Bhajabania Chitarkum on Friday night around 9 PM.
The injured Bangladeshi, Jahangir Alam (19), is currently receiving treatment at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital. He is the son of Nurul Kabir from Tumbru Ulubunia Para. The other injured person, Mohammad Hossain (27), is the son of Abdul Hakim from Bhajabania. However, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Abdul Karim, Hossain is a Rohingya.
Local sources claim that Jahangir and Nur Hossain were involved in smuggling activities. While crossing the border fence for trade, members of the Arakan Army allegedly opened fire from the Myanmar side. Jahangir sustained gunshot wounds in two places on his left leg, while Nur Hossain suffered minor injuries. Locals suspect that Arakan Army fighters deliberately targeted them.
According to Bandarban Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime & Ops) Abdul Karim, one Bangladeshi and one Rohingya were injured in the attack. Jahangir was initially taken to a hospital in Ukhiya before being transferred to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment, while the other injured individual is receiving treatment locally.
