Unity is the only path against fascism: Ali Riaz

Dr. Ali Riaz, Vice President of the National Consensus Commission, said that the unity which once helped to overcome fascism will return again. He made the remark during a meeting with the National Democratic Movement (NDM) in Dhaka on Tuesday, April 15.
According to Dr. Riaz, a national charter can be formulated based on common ground reached through dialogue, which would pave the way for the much-anticipated reform of the state. He emphasized that the main goal is to reach a consensus on such a charter as quickly as possible. The current tenure of the commission runs through mid-July, and he hopes the initial phase of talks will conclude by mid-May, allowing the process to move forward.
He noted that the first phase of discussions has already begun and more dialogues will follow, aiming to bring different parties together. The NDM delegation, led by party chairman Bobby Hajjaj and comprising eight members, joined Tuesday’s talks. Following the meeting, Bobby Hajjaj commented that the proposed reforms, if implemented, would contribute to establishing a people-centric government.
