China to Grant $138 Million for Bangladesh’s Health Sector

Bangladesh could become a promising healthcare market for China, according to Health Advisor Noorjahan Begum. Speaking at the opening of the Yunnan Education and Health Exhibition at Dhaka University’s Senate Building on Sunday morning (April 20), she stated that China has committed to providing $138.20 million in assistance to support the development of Bangladesh’s health sector.
She noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Bangladesh purchased most of its vaccines from China. She also revealed that China has agreed to help establish a hospital for paralyzed patients in Dhamrai, Dhaka, and discussions are underway for the construction of a 1,000-bed hospital as well.
Highlighting further collaboration, she mentioned that the Chinese ambassador confirmed Dr. Yunus’s recent visit to China was a success. She added that in the near future, it is expected that Bangladeshi citizens will be able to travel to China for medical treatment with greater ease.
