Pakistan’s Air Sial wants to launch new flights to Dhaka

After Fly Jinnah, another Pakistani private airline, Air Sial, has shown interest in launching flights to Dhaka. This was recently confirmed by Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, who told reporters that Air Sial had applied for flight operations to Bangladesh, and the request is currently under consideration.
Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Md. Iqbal Hussain, informed the media that Fly Jinnah is awaiting approval to expand its fleet. However, if Air Sial receives approval, it could start flights to Dhaka within two months. He emphasized that the resumption of direct air travel between Bangladesh and Pakistan would boost tourism and enhance communication between the two nations.
Air Sial, which began operations in August 2015, is a licensed airline for both domestic and international routes for passenger and cargo transportation.
Earlier this year, on September 2, the Pakistani High Commissioner to Dhaka, Ahmed Maruf, met with Bangladesh’s Home Advisor and stressed the importance of reinstating direct flights between the two countries for mutual benefit and business interests. He also noted that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had previously operated direct flights between Bangladesh and Pakistan until 2018, but discontinued them due to low passenger numbers and financial losses. The initiative for new direct flights has now been revived by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
