Stay Alert to Protect the Reform Movement: Ali Riaz

At a meeting between Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Consensus Commission on Saturday (April 26) at the LD Hall of the National Parliament building, Professor Ali Riaz, Vice-Chairman of the Commission, urged everyone to remain vigilant so that the current opportunity for state reforms is not squandered.
In his opening remarks, Professor Riaz emphasized that the nation stands at a historic juncture, with a duty owed to the martyred heroes who made this moment possible. He stressed that the ongoing effort to reform the state structure must involve constant public awareness and commitment.
Highlighting the Commission’s goal, he mentioned that through dialogue with political parties, a National Charter would be formulated to build a Bangladesh where citizens’ rights are fully protected, and incidents of extrajudicial killings or oppression are eliminated.
Professor Riaz further stated that the initiative to reform the state is not just the responsibility of the government but of every citizen of Bangladesh, with the success of this effort heavily reliant on the goodwill of political parties.
Other members of the Commission present at the meeting included Justice Emdadul Haque, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, Safar Raj Hossain, and Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Monir Haider.
