Police Prepared to Maintain Order During Elections: Home Affairs Adviser

The Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, has stated that the police force will remain prepared to maintain law and order across the country once the date for the national election is announced. He made the remarks on Sunday, June 15, following a meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order. The adviser emphasized that the police will act according to the timeline set by the Election Commission to ensure stability. Addressing the issue of pushbacks from India, he mentioned that any individual identified as a Bangladeshi citizen must be repatriated through proper procedures, and the Indian High Commission has been urged to comply with this process. He assured that Bangladesh will accept its citizens if verified. Additionally, regarding a recent robbery incident in Dhaka’s Uttara area involving criminals disguised in RAB uniforms, the adviser said that efforts are underway to arrest those responsible as quickly as possible.
