A storm with winds of 45 to 60 km/h may sweep across seven districts of Bangladesh by midday today, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms. According to a weather alert signed by meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik, this forecast covers the period from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 6.
The affected districts include Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar. Temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast are expected in these areas. River ports in these regions have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number one.
In a separate notice, the meteorological office warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Chattogram, Khulna, and Barishal divisions due to active monsoon conditions. This could trigger landslides in hilly areas of Chattogram and lead to temporary waterlogging in low-lying areas.
