Amid recent tensions between Iran and Israel, another group of 32 Bangladeshi nationals who had been stranded in Iran have safely returned to Bangladesh.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the returnees arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday morning, July 8, aboard two separate flights. One group of 22 arrived early in the morning, while the remaining 10 reached later around 10 a.m.
Earlier in July, due to the escalating conflict in the region, the government had facilitated the return of 28 Bangladeshis from Iran via land through Pakistan.
Officials reported that approximately 250 Bangladeshis had registered with the Bangladeshi Embassy in Tehran expressing a desire to return home amid the crisis. However, as the situation has since stabilized, many of them have now opted to stay. In contrast, undocumented Bangladeshis in Iran are showing more interest in repatriation.
According to the Bangladeshi Embassy in Tehran, around 2,000 Bangladeshis currently reside in Iran, with nearly 400 living in the capital city.
