Rainfall has been sweeping across various regions of Bangladesh, from light drizzles to heavy downpours, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature. However, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has indicated that rainfall is expected to lessen from Wednesday (July 9) evening onwards. Speaking to journalists, meteorologist Tariful Newaz Kabir reported that the highest recorded rainfall in the past 24 hours was 399 mm in Feni, while Dhaka received 77 mm.

Despite the forecast of reduced rain later in the day, scattered light to moderate showers may continue in several areas including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Chattogram. Meanwhile, heavier rainfall is likely in parts of Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, and Chattogram due to the active monsoon conditions across the country. A low-pressure system over Gangetic West Bengal and adjacent areas, along with a monsoon trough stretching across several Indian states and Bangladesh into the Bay of Bengal, is contributing to the prevailing weather.

Over the next few days, intermittent rainfall with thunderstorms is forecasted across much of the country. Moderate to heavy showers are expected particularly in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chattogram divisions. While daytime and nighttime temperatures will mostly remain stable, slight increases may occur on Thursday and Friday (July 10–11), followed by slight decreases from Saturday through Sunday (July 12–13).

The extended five-day forecast suggests that the rainfall trend is likely to persist.
