The Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Major General Mohammad Ashraful Islam Siddiqui, has stated that the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) is pushing not only Bangladeshis but also some Indian nationals into Bangladesh across the shared border. He made the remarks on Thursday, July 10, while speaking to the press after the graduation parade of the 103rd recruit batch in Chattogram.

According to the BGB chief, incidents of both pushback and push-in are occurring regularly along the Bangladesh-India border. He noted that official procedures are ongoing to ensure the proper handover of individuals as per established norms. “We are working to resist such actions. Some Indian nationals are also being pushed in, and we are taking steps to prevent this,” he added.

Addressing the new recruits, Major General Siddiqui emphasized the importance of firmness in the face of adversaries. “Never show weakness to the enemy. If needed, sacrifice your life, but never give up an inch of the country’s land. You are the symbol of trust at our borders,” he declared.

The BGB chief further affirmed the force’s commitment to curbing smuggling across the border and said that once border security is ensured, additional manpower will be available to assist in the upcoming national elections.
