Fascism Must Fall for True Freedom, Says North Zone Organizer Sarjis Alam
At a street rally in Munshiganj on Friday (July 18), Sarjis Alam, the North Zone chief organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP), stated that he wishes to witness the death sentence of Sheikh Hasina, whom he described as a key figure behind the July uprising and subsequent mass killing.
“Until fascism is uprooted, Bangladesh will never truly be free,” Sarjis declared. “Fascist forces aren’t confined to Gopalganj—they exist across the country, and wherever they rise, the people must resist in unity.”
He emphasized the need to bring to justice those orchestrating killings from abroad, stressing, “Hasina must face trial. I want to witness her final verdict before I die.”
During the same event, NCP’s South Zone leader Hasnat Abdullah warned of ongoing domestic and international conspiracies. “We must unite to confront these threats,” he said, urging all political parties to stand against fascist oppression.
He further stated that the goal should be to build a nation led by principles, not personalities. As a part of the movement, he announced that a major gathering will take place at the National Martyrs’ Monument on August 3 to press for the declaration of the “July Manifesto.”
