Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government, has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft on the campus of Milestone School and College in Uttara.

In a condolence message issued on Monday (July 21), he stated that the losses suffered by the Air Force personnel as well as students, teachers, staff, and guardians of Milestone School and College are irreparable. “This is a moment of great national sorrow,” he added.

He wished a swift recovery to those injured and said he has directed hospitals and all relevant authorities to treat the matter with the highest urgency.

The Chief Adviser also affirmed that the government will take all necessary steps to investigate the cause of the crash and ensure full support and assistance to those affected.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR), the aircraft had taken off at 1:06 PM and crashed shortly afterward. The pilot, Flight Lieutenant Tawkir Islam Sagar, was flying solo.

So far, reports indicate that at least 30 people — including women and children, most of them students — have suffered burns in the crash.
