Rescue Efforts Conclude for Today: Uttara DC

A training aircraft of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed into Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, prompting immediate response from emergency teams. Monday night (July 21), around 8:45 PM, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Uttara Zone Deputy Commissioner Mohibul confirmed that today’s rescue efforts have been concluded.
“No more bodies have been recovered from the site,” he stated. “As of now, today’s rescue operation is complete. Right after the incident, teams from the Army, Navy, Air Force, police, and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the location. We’re grateful for the support from students, civilians, and media personnel.”
He also mentioned that the Milestone College campus has been sealed off. No one will be allowed entry until further notice.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the aircraft took off at 1:06 PM. It met with an accident shortly after takeoff. A probe has already begun to determine the cause of the crash.
The aircraft was piloted solely by Flight Lieutenant Tawkir Islam Sagar. So far, ISPR has confirmed 20 fatalities, including the pilot, and 171 injured as a result of the incident.
