At the 17th day of second-round talks between the National Consensus Commission and political parties on Tuesday (22 July) morning at the Foreign Service Academy, the Commission’s Vice-Chairman Dr. Ali Riaz urged parties to swiftly reach consensus for the implementation of the July Charter, considering the pressing time limitations.

Dr. Riaz also called upon government agencies to ensure proper medical care for those injured in the recent plane crash and to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

During today’s meeting, political representatives were expected to present and discuss proposals regarding the structure of the caretaker government, limitations on the Prime Minister holding multiple positions, and provisions related to the appointment of key national bodies — including the Election Commission, Public Service Commission, Comptroller and Auditor General, Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Ombudsman.

The session began with a minute of silence and a prayer in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the recent aviation tragedy. The official condolence statement was read by Commission member Badiul Alam Majumdar.
