Clashes have broken out between students and police near the Secretariat, specifically beside the Nur Hossain Square area (GPO intersection), bringing traffic to a complete halt in the vicinity.

From Tuesday afternoon (July 22), students began gathering to demand the resignation of Education Adviser Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar and Senior Education Secretary Siddiq Zobayer. The protest was sparked by frustration over the sudden postponement of examinations at 3 AM, which students say was abrupt and unacceptable.

Protesters have issued a 24-hour ultimatum, warning of intensified demonstrations if their demands are not met.

Eyewitnesses reported that students from several institutions—such as Dhaka College, City College, and Ideal College in Dhanmondi—joined the protest.

To disperse the crowd, police used tear gas and sound grenades. As of now, reports indicate that at least 30 students have been injured and are receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
