Gas Explosion in Narayanganj Leaves Family Injured

Five members of the same family, including a young child, sustained burn injuries after a fire caused by a gas leak broke out at their home in Kanchpur, Narayanganj. All of them have been admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for treatment.

 

The incident occurred early Thursday (September 4) around 5:30 a.m. on the ground floor of a three-story building in the Basic area under Sonargaon Police Station.

 

The injured have been identified as Monob Chowdhury (40), his wife Bacha Chowdhury (38), and their daughters Muni (14), Chunni (12), and Mouri (6).

 

Neighbor Sabinoy Das, who helped rescue the victims, said the family lived in a rented flat on the ground floor. “Right after they lit the stove to cook in the morning, a loud explosion shook the building. Hearing their screams, neighbors rushed in, extinguished the fire, and rescued them,” he said.

 

Doctors at the burn institute confirmed that all five are being treated in the emergency department.
