Special trains on Dhaka–Chattogram route during Durga Puja

To accommodate the surge of passengers during the upcoming Durga Puja festival, Bangladesh Railway will operate four pairs of special trains between Dhaka–Cox’s Bazar and Dhaka–Chattogram. The additional services will run from September 30 to October 4, with three pairs scheduled for the Dhaka–Cox’s Bazar line and one pair for the Dhaka–Chattogram line.
Each train will have 18 coaches, with seating capacity of 834 passengers during the day and 789 at night. Fares will remain the same as Subarna, Sonar Bangla, and Cox’s Bazar Express trains, though passengers must pay an extra 30% surcharge on AC seats and 20% on non-AC seats.
According to railway officials:
- On September 30, a special service from Chattogram will depart at 2:45 p.m. and arrive in Dhaka at 8:00 p.m. That night, the Dhaka–Cox’s Bazar “Tourist Special-1002” will leave Kamalapur Station at 10:30 p.m.
- On October 1, the return train “Tourist Special-1001” will leave Cox’s Bazar at 11:30 a.m. and reach Dhaka by 8:00 p.m., while another night service will again head to Cox’s Bazar.
- On October 3, the same schedule will continue with a Cox’s Bazar–Dhaka morning departure and a Dhaka–Cox’s Bazar night train.
- On October 4, “Tourist Special-1001” will once again leave Cox’s Bazar for Dhaka at 11:30 a.m., while that night the “Chattogram Special” will depart Dhaka at 10:30 p.m., reaching Chattogram by 4:30 a.m. the following morning.
Eastern Railway officials said the decision was made to manage the holiday rush. Extra precautions have been taken to ensure safe and comfortable travel for all passengers.
