Touhid Afridi taken to Dhaka, Police request 7-day remand

Social media content creator Touhid Afridi, arrested in connection with a murder case filed at Jatrabari Police Station during the anti-discrimination student movement, has been placed under CID custody. Police have now submitted a petition seeking seven days of remand for further interrogation.

 

CID Inspector Khan Md Erfan, the investigation officer of the case, confirmed the remand request on Monday afternoon. Afridi is expected to be presented before the court later in the day.

 

Afridi was detained in a late-night special raid at a house in Barishal’s Banglabazar area around 10:30 pm on Sunday. He was immediately transferred to Dhaka following his arrest.

 

According to case documents, Afridi—son of Nasir Uddin, chairman of private TV channel My TV—was named as an accused in the July uprising murder case filed at Jatrabari Police Station. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also among the accused listed in the case, which includes 25 names in total.
