Senior journalist Saidur Rahman Rimon has been honored with a lifetime achievement award by The Times of Dhaka for his exceptional contribution to journalism

On Friday, the capital’s Ramna area was filled with excitement and festivities surrounding two prominent events. The CRAB (Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh) elections brought a lively buzz, with spirited activities and gatherings at the Dhaka Reporters Unity premises, National Press Club, Paltan, and surrounding areas.

 

Meanwhile, a different kind of enthusiasm enveloped the Institution of Engineers, where The Times of Dhaka organized a grand celebration. The event drew notable personalities, including politicians, human rights activists, journalists, writers, scientists, leaders from the expatriate Bangladeshi community, and artists.

 

The highlight of the event was the cutting of a magnificent, large cake to officially inaugurate the digital platform The Times of Dhaka.

As part of the celebration, a discussion titled “Democracy and the Future of Bangladesh” was held, along with an honorary awards ceremony recognizing distinguished individuals. The festivities extended into the night with captivating musical performances by renowned bands.

 

In this joyous atmosphere, Desh Bangla editor Saidur Rahman Rimon was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his exceptional contribution to investigative journalism. Special honors were also presented to individuals for their contributions in fields such as social work, innovation, and welfare of expatriate communities.

 

The event was presided over by The Times of Dhaka editor Al Baru Mustakim Nibir, with former Prime Minister and veteran freedom fighter Begum Khaleda Zia’s personal advisor Md. Abdus Salam as the chief guest. Special guest and member of the Maulana Bhashani family, his daughter-in-law delivered an insightful speech.

 

Additionally, discussions on the aspirations and recommendations for the future of Bangladesh were presented by distinguished speakers .
