Despite an active arrest warrant, top criminal, drug dealer, eve-teaser, land grabber, yaba addict, and teenage gang leader Saif Pavel of Ullapara continues to roam freely right under the nose of the authorities.

Pavel faces numerous allegations and several cases filed against him at Ullapara Police Station, yet the police have failed to arrest him. Journalist Rahid Roni has expressed concern over the lack of justice and also fears for the safety of his parents. Roni, who previously worked with DBC, Nagorik, and Somoy TV, detailed a series of criminal acts committed by Pavel.

According to Roni, on August 6 last year, Pavel attacked, looted, and committed robbery at his business establishment. Later, on December 13, Pavel illegally occupied and sold soil from land bought in his mother’s name. Most recently, on April 5, Pavel took the law into his own hands and led a mob justice incident as the head of a teen gang. He is also accused of regular extortion and issuing death threats.

Although the cases have been officially recorded, the police are yet to take any effective action, leaving Roni’s family in deep anxiety. He demanded the immediate arrest and trial of Saif Pavel to ensure the safety of his elderly and ailing parents—a schoolteacher father and a homemaker mother.

Meanwhile, Saif Pavel, also known as Md. Pavel Mia, has been expelled from his position as Joint General Secretary of the Sirajganj District unit of Chhatro Dal.
