Coast Guard Rescues Eight Fishermen Stranded in Bay of Bengal
Members of the Coast Guard (CG) rescued eight fishermen who had been stranded in the Bay of Bengal for three days.
According to a CG statement on Monday, the fishermen were provided with first aid and food before their boat was safely brought to the Harbaria riverbank.
Lt. Com. Siam-Ul-Haq, media officer of the CG, said the fishing vessel FB Mayer Doa set out to sea with eight fishermen on 14 August.
The trawler suffered a mechanical failure while in mid-sea, leaving the crew adrift. On 17 August, one of the fishermen managed to contact the Coast Guard’s emergency helpline, 16111, after entering mobile network coverage.
A patrolling CG team quickly located the boat near buoy No-5 of the Mongla Fairway and safely rescued all eight fishermen.
