Four Family Members Killed in Cumilla Highway Collision

Four members of a family lost their lives this afternoon in a tragic accident on the Dhaka–Chattogram highway at Paduar Bazar Bishwa Road in Cumilla.

The victims have been identified as Mohammad Omar Ali, 80; his wife Nurjahan Begum, 65; and their sons Abul Hashem, 50, and Abul Kashem, 45. The family resided in Mudaffarganj, Laksham upazila of Cumilla.

Sub-Inspector Anisur Rahman of Cumilla Sadar Police confirmed that all four deceased were from the same family.

The accident occurred around 12:45 pm when a covered van overturned, crushing the family’s private car and then colliding with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. Abul Kashem was reportedly driving the car at the time of the crash.

Firefighters from two units arrived at the scene and carried out rescue operations, which concluded at 1:50 pm, according to Mir Mohammad Maruf, station officer of Cumilla Sadar South Fire Station.
