Eid-e-Miladunnabi to Be Observed in Bangladesh on September 6
Bangladesh will observe Eid-e-Miladunnabi on September 6, marking the birth and passing anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). The day will be observed across the country with religious devotion and solemnity.
The announcement was made following a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation’s conference room in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The meeting was chaired by Religious Affairs Secretary AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik.
As the crescent moon of Rabiul Awal, 1446 Hijri, was not sighted in Bangladesh today, the month will commence on Tuesday. Accordingly, the 12th of Rabiul Awal, which coincides with September 6 this year, will be marked as Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Makkah in 570 AD on the 12th of Rabiul Awal and passed away on the same date in 632 AD. In Bangladesh, the day is recognized as a public holiday.
