Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly condemned the remarks of Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of the BNP, regarding Jamaat’s alleged willingness to forgive Sheikh Hasina for improving relations with India. In a statement issued by Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General, Rafiqul Islam Khan, the party dismissed Rizvi’s comments as misleading, baseless, and politically motivated.

The statement emphasized that before making allegations against Jamaat, Rizvi should engage in self-reflection. It questioned who had previously sent party delegations to foster ties with India, a matter the public is well aware of. Jamaat reiterated that its politics stand firmly against Indian hegemony and fascism, a position supported by the nation, which might explain Rizvi’s irritation. The party urged him to refrain from spreading confusion and false accusations.

Responding to Rizvi’s claim that Jamaat had a history of severing tendons and exploiting opportunities in chaotic situations, Rafiqul Islam denied these allegations, asserting that Jamaat does not engage in such practices or use religion as a political tool. Addressing Rizvi’s accusation that Jamaat acted hypocritically by participating in the 1986 elections under Ershad, the party countered by pointing to the BNP’s alliances in 2018, asking whether such compromises were not acts of hypocrisy themselves.
