At around 10 AM on Tuesday, Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer (Northern Region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP), issued a stern warning while speaking to journalists at the Rayerbazar Cemetery after paying respects at the graves of the July martyrs. He declared, “Until we witness the execution of the killer Hasina, no one should even mistakenly speak about elections.”

Sarjis further stated, “The whereabouts of the bodies remain unknown. Mothers are desperately searching for their loved ones. How can we think of anything else in this country until justice is served against the murderer?”

NCP Convener Nahid Islam called for swift justice for the oppression during the July uprising. He emphasized that ensuring justice would alleviate some of the suffering of those who sacrificed their lives or were injured. “This trial should serve as a precedent to prevent any future rise of fascism,” he added.

He also advocated for a Constituent Assembly election alongside the national elections to establish a new constitution and pave the way for true democratic governance. “A simultaneous Constituent Assembly and parliamentary election could lay the foundation for a new structure and a transformed Bangladesh,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Chief Organizer (Southern Region) Hasnat Abdullah stated that the government had risen to power by spilling the blood of students and the masses. “They must understand that if justice is not ensured, the entire process will be questioned. The trials must be expedited, and if necessary, the number of special tribunals should be increased to ensure justice without delay,” he asserted.

Earlier in the morning, at around 8:30 AM, the NCP leaders paid tribute at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar.
