Sargis Alam, the chief organizer of the Northern Region of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has alleged a violent attack on his followers near North South University.

In a verified Facebook post on Wednesday night (March 5), Sargis stated that after iftar, he went to meet and converse with fellow private university students in the Bashundhara residential area. From 7 PM to 10 PM, he engaged in discussions with students from NSU, IUB, AIUB, and UIU. As he was walking past NSU with 15-20 students, he noticed a group of 10-12 people chanting slogans, including central Chhatra Dal leader Ahmed Shakil.

Sargis approached them to listen, but they allegedly began hurling verbal abuse at his student supporters. He claimed that while one or two among them seemed like students, the rest appeared to be hired miscreants. Realizing their intent to create a disruptive situation, he asked both sides to leave and walked away.

Later, he alleged that Shakil and his group launched a violent attack on the private university students with sharp weapons, causing serious injuries, including head and back wounds. Calling for justice, Sargis warned that if Chhatra Dal resorts to the same tactics as its past tormentors, it may soon face a similar fate. He urged them to learn from recent history before it’s too late.
