Allegations of over Tk 400 crore in commission trade have surfaced against several officials of NCTB and Gazi Salauddin Ahmed Tanvir regarding the printing paper for this year’s textbooks. In a Facebook post on Monday, March 10, Rashed Khan, General Secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad, raised these accusations, also referring to Tanvir as a leader of a new political party.
Rashed claimed that Tanvir, previously mentioned in the list of student coordinators for DC appointments, has now been linked to the NCTB controversy. He alleged that printing companies were forced to pay Tk 15,000 to 25,000 more per ton than the market price for paper and were denied printing clearance unless they purchased from a specific supplier. This allegedly resulted in over Tk 400 crore in commissions involving several NCTB officials and Tanvir.
He further stated that Tanvir has been given the position of Joint Member Secretary in a newly formed political party, urging journalists to investigate him. “Why is an unknown individual so influential? Doesn’t that make you curious?” he questioned.
In response, Gazi Salauddin Ahmed Tanvir denied any financial involvement, stating, “I will accept any punishment if these allegations can be proven against me.”
