The Advisory Council has approved a proposal for a holiday for government employees on April 3 through an executive order for the upcoming Eid ul-Fitr. The holiday is aimed at ensuring smooth transportation for the public during the festival. The proposal was approved in a meeting held on Thursday, March 20, at the Chief Advisor’s office, chaired by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

Eid ul-Fitr is expected to fall on March 31 or April 1, depending on the moon sighting. The Public Administration Ministry had already set a five-day holiday from March 29 to April 2. However, since March 28 is a Friday (a weekly holiday) and coincides with the observance of Shabe Qadr, the holiday will effectively start from March 28. With the executive order declaring April 3 as an additional holiday, government employees will be able to enjoy a continuous nine-day break, from March 28 to April 5, including the weekends.
