No stance against the army, stability is the priority – Sarjis

Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) for the northern region, stated that they have no stance against the army chief and will not position themselves against forces supporting a coup. He made these remarks on Saturday, March 22, while responding to a question at the Iftar and prayer gathering organized by the Rangpur Division Reporters Forum, Dhaka (RDRF) at the National Press Club.

 

The event was attended by RDRF members and political leaders. Sarjis emphasized that mob justice and true justice are contradictory, stressing the need to avoid any disorder for the sake of national stability. He added that maintaining stability is crucial for ensuring free and fair elections. Calling for collective efforts to advance the Rangpur region, he urged politicians, business leaders, and stakeholders to work together.

 

Joining the event, BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi highlighted the importance of strengthening the country’s agriculture-based economy to drive success in rural areas. He also called for legal measures to prevent media owners from interfering in journalistic practices.

 

Other speakers at the Iftar gathering included Begum Rokeya University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali, RDRF President Tamzidul, General Secretary Apel Shahriar, and Kamruzzaman Saeedi Sohag, editor and publisher of Ajker Dainik, among others.
