Partha Says Delayed Elections Could Complicate the Situation

Andalib Rahman Partha, Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has called for the swift organization of elections in the country’s best interest. Speaking to reporters after a liaison committee meeting at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office on Sunday (April 27), he expressed his belief that elections could be held by December.

 

Partha emphasized that the people of the country are eagerly waiting for elections and that the electoral roadmap should be announced quickly. He stated that an interim government should not push the country towards uncertainty and warned against delays in elections for the sake of reforms. He suggested that elections could be arranged before December and urged that if elections are delayed, certain factions might try to destabilize the situation. According to Partha, the government could focus on agreed-upon reforms to prepare for the elections.
