Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has called for national unity, emphasizing that even if individuals face defeat, collective unity will ultimately lead to national victory. Speaking at an event at the National Press Club on Monday (April 28), he urged everyone to rise above party lines and unite for the greater good of the nation. Dr. Shafiqur stressed that building a humane Bangladesh requires prioritizing national interests over personal or political differences. Other Jamaat leaders present at the event remarked that without justice for past killings, the country can never be free from fascism. They also called for a united stand against those who continue to incite fascist practices. Shamim Saeedi, Chairman of the Saeedi Foundation, noted that although there were attempts to eliminate the Islamic movement by executing Jamaat leaders, those efforts failed, and instead, he claimed, the ruling party has become isolated from the public. Selim Uddin, Ameer of Jamaat’s Dhaka North chapter, emphasized the need to bring all those involved in past state oppression to justice, warning that without accountability, fascism would persist indefinitely in Bangladesh. He called on the nation’s 180 million people to unite against ongoing conspiracies and fascist tendencies. The event concluded with the unveiling of a book titled “From the Grassroots to the Summit,” which chronicles the life of former MP Maulana Abdus Subhan.
