Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), has publicly questioned what justice and reforms the interim government has implemented so far. In a verified Facebook post around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday (May 8), he raised concerns over the state’s handling of justice and accountability. He criticized instances where, according to him, killers were allowed to flee the country, suspects arrested by the police were later granted bail by the court, and even government officials allegedly facilitated services like passport issuance to certain individuals at their homes—referring to Shirin Sharmin. Hasnat also pointed out the delay in forming the second tribunal, which was supposed to begin in January but had not commenced by May. “And yet, you’re talking about putting the Awami League on trial? What justice and reforms have you actually delivered so far?” he asked the interim administration.
