Allama Imam Hayat, Chairman of Bishwo Insaniyat Biplob Bangladesh, has called on the government to withdraw all types of false cases.

In a statement sent to the media on Tuesday (May 20), Allama Imam Hayat stated that the use of false charges, mass arrests, labeling government criticism and peaceful protests as acts of sedition—are nothing short of tyrannical actions that risk being condemned by history.

He further added that a radical faction within the government, along with certain overzealous and reckless elements in the police force, has pushed the administration into public outrage and has severely damaged the image of the respected Chief Adviser. The widespread injustice, false cases, and inhumane assaults on the livelihoods of the poor have sparked widespread anger and hatred among the people.

The statement also noted that the public is increasingly confused about who truly governs the country and who is making such reckless and brutal decisions. With state-sanctioned extremism, communal authoritarian politics, and rampant corruption disguised under the name of religion, public fear and despair over the future of the nation are growing.

By resorting to false cases, unlawful arrests, unjust remands, prison torture, suppression of free speech, and sedition charges against dissenters, the government is essentially building the foundation of the state on lies. Tyranny and authoritarian cruelty have now become the defining characteristics of this regime.

“We, the people and the state, have merely moved from one suffocating darkness to another. The trust and hope that we and other democracy-loving citizens initially had in this interim government is now rapidly fading,” the statement concluded.
