Mahmudullah Riyad has become the first Bangladeshi cricketer to hit 200 sixes in international cricket, joining an elite club as the 41st player globally to achieve this milestone. The feat came during a brilliant 50-run innings against the West Indies at Warner Park, St. Kitts, on Sunday, December 8. His knock included three fours and three sixes, with the record-breaking six struck off Romario Shepherd in the first ball of the final over.
Since making his international debut in 2007, Mahmudullah has amassed 200 sixes across 430 innings, comprising 24 in Tests, 99 in ODIs, and 77 in T20Is. Among Bangladeshi players, he leads the chart for most sixes across formats, followed by Tamim Iqbal with 188 sixes in 448 innings and Mushfiqur Rahim with 173 sixes in 521 innings. Shakib Al Hasan ranks fourth with 135 sixes in 491 innings, while Liton Das completes the top five with 119 sixes. Soumya Sarkar and Mashrafe Mortaza have also made their marks with 109 and 107 sixes, respectively.
Globally, the record for the most sixes in international cricket belongs to India’s Rohit Sharma, who has smashed an astounding 624 sixes throughout his career.
