Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gono Odhikar Parishad, stated that the interim government should be given an additional two years. He made this remark on Sunday, December 22, during a discussion held in front of the DUCSU building at Dhaka University.

Nur mentioned that while Sheikh Hasina’s government could have stayed another four years, granting two years to the interim government for necessary reforms would not harm the country. He urged cooperation with the government to ensure reforms and justice for past atrocities, emphasizing the need to criticize or demand the resignation of any advisor failing in their responsibilities.

He highlighted the necessity of reforms across all sectors, including the police, public administration, judiciary, election commission, and armed forces, alleging that Sheikh Hasina’s regime has placed loyalists in all key sectors over the last 15 years.

Recalling an attack on December 22, 2019, led by Chhatra League members, Nur accused Dhaka University’s former Proctor Golam Rabbani and former VC Akhtaruzzaman of supporting the attackers. He stated they should be held accountable for Chhatra League’s misdeeds.

The discussion was attended by Gono Odhikar Parishad General Secretary Md. Rashed Khan, Student Rights Council President Bin Yamin Molla, General Secretary Nazmul Hasan, DU chapter leaders, and Dhaka University faculty members, including Economics teacher Rashad

Faridi.
