State Mourning to Be Observed on Saturday Over Osman Hadi’s Death

The Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, announced a day of state mourning on Saturday following the death of martyr Sharif Osman bin Hadi. He made the announcement in a televised address to the nation after 11:15pm tonight.

In his speech, the Chief Adviser said the national flag would be flown at half-mast on Saturday at all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions, educational establishments, private and public buildings, as well as Bangladesh missions abroad. He also announced that special prayers seeking forgiveness for Osman Hadi would be held in mosques across the country after Jumma prayers on Friday. Special prayers will also be arranged at places of worship of other faiths.

Professor Yunus prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed his heartfelt condolences to Osman Hadi’s bereaved wife, family members and colleagues.

He further said the government would take responsibility for the welfare of Sharif Osman Hadi’s wife and their only child.
