Chattogram-16

The three main contenders in Chattogram-16 were Mishkatul Islam Chowdhury, Mohammad Zahirul Islam and Mohammad Leyakat Ali.

Pabna-4

Pabna-4 is another constituency worth highlighting. Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Abu Taleb Mondal secured victory with 137,575 votes. His closest rival, BNP nominee Habibur Rahman, received 133,874 votes — a margin of just 3,701.

However, BNP rebel candidate Zakaria Pintu obtained 27,970 votes in the same seat. The split in votes appears to have cost Habibur Rahman the election, as the rebel’s tally exceeded the margin of defeat.

Bagerhat-1

In Bagerhat-1, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Mashiyur Rahman Khan defeated BNP candidate Kapil Krishna Mondal by 3,204 votes. The constituency also had two BNP rebel contenders. Sheikh Masud Rana received 6,467 votes, while M A H Selim secured 5,283 — a combined total of 11,750 votes. Had these votes remained unified, the BNP candidate might have gained an advantage.

Similar patterns were observed in Jashore-5, Madaripur-1, Dhaka-14, Satkhira-3, Pabna-3, Sherpur-1, Gaibandha-5, Bagerhat-2 and Bagerhat-4.

Mymensingh-6

Both BNP and Jamaat had rebel candidates in Mymensingh-6. Jamaat contender Kamrul Hasan won the seat with 77,325 votes. Jamaat rebel Mohammad Jasim Uddin secured 51,970 votes.

Meanwhile, BNP nominee Akhtarul Alam received 49,476 votes, while BNP rebel Akhtar Sultana garnered 53,331 votes, further reshaping the final outcome in the constituency.
