Azam Khan’s return to the field has increased for Pakistan. This keeper-batsman has been dropped from the ongoing T20 series against New Zealand.

Former Pakistani cricketer Moin Khan’s son Azam is suffering from a leg muscle injury. The radiology report revealed a ‘grade one tear’ in his right leg muscle. The 25-year-old batsman has been advised to rest for 10 days.

According to the PCB’s statement on Saturday, Azam’s leg problem came to the fore during practice the day before the start of the ongoing five-match series against the Kiwis. The first match was washed away by rain after just two balls. Azam will now go to the National Cricket Academy in Lahore after leaving the national team for rehabilitation.

As an aggressive batsman, Azam has played only 8 T20Is so far in the Pakistan team. Where he scored only 29, maximum 10. He played the last match for the country against New Zealand last January.

Azam did not do badly with the bat in the last PSL. He scored 226 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 171 for the title winners Islamabad United. Earlier, he scored 224 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 155.55 on the way to the title of Guyana Warriors in the CPL.

These performances have put him in the discussion for a place in the Pakistan T20 World Cup squad. Pacer Mohammad Amir and spinning all-rounder Imad Wasim have also been returned to the team by Pakistan ahead of the World Cup. This tournament will start in West Indies and USA next June.

After the New Zealand series, Pakistan are scheduled to play seven more T20Is before the World Cup, three against Ireland and four against England.
