Nobel Laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the Social Business Movement, described social business as the key to achieving sustainable development. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 15th Social Business Day, held on Friday, June 27, at the Social Convention Hall in Savar and organized by Yunus Centre, he emphasized that a world exhausted by war and conflict is constantly falling behind. He urged people to dream of transforming the world by moving beyond selfishness.
The two-day event began with the national anthem, followed by a vibrant cultural performance. In his keynote speech, Dr. Yunus remarked that previous political opposition had prevented the celebration of Social Business Day in earlier years.
He criticized the global system built on self-interest, warning that such a path can only lead to destruction. According to him, real healthcare for people can be ensured through social business, not through charity. He also praised the youth of Bangladesh for leading the country from darkness to light and called on everyone to begin working with new ideas and renewed commitment.
Dr. Yunus later visited various stalls at the social business fair organized as part of the event.
