The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) formally unveiled its election manifesto for the 13th National Parliamentary Election on Friday, February 6, at an event held at a hotel in Dhaka, where party chairman Tarique Rahman presented the document just five days ahead of the polls. The programme was chaired by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and moderated by standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan. Framed around the slogans “Bangladesh First” and “Work to Build the Nation,” the manifesto outlines the party’s guiding principles for governing the state and is structured into five key sections: reform of the state system, inclusive socio-economic development with sustainable state capacity, recovery and rebuilding of a fragile economy, balanced regional development, and the promotion of religion, society, sports, culture, and national unity. The manifesto draws inspiration from the late President Ziaur Rahman’s 19-point programme, former prime minister Khaleda Zia’s Vision 2030, Tarique Rahman’s proposed 31-point state reform agenda, and the July National Charter. Speaking at the opening of the event, Mirza Fakhrul said the occasion marked the beginning of a new chapter in the country’s political history, expressing hope that the manifesto would offer fresh direction for Bangladesh’s political and economic future. Senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi later invited Tarique Rahman to the stage, where he began by extending greetings to those in attendance before outlining his vision for the nation.
