Mirza Abbas wins Dhaka-8 with 59,366 votes

Mirza Abbas, a member of the Standing Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has been unofficially declared elected from the Dhaka-8 constituency after final vote counting, including postal ballots.

Officials from the district election office said Abbas secured 59,366 votes while contesting under the party’s “sheaf of paddy” symbol.

His nearest rival, Nasiruddin Patwary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), who ran with the “Shapla Koli” (waterlily bud) symbol, received 54,127 votes.

Election authorities confirmed that Abbas won the seat by a margin of 5,239 votes.

According to officials, the Dhaka-8 constituency has a total of 275,474 registered voters.
