Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus Returns to Dhaka After 9-Day U.S. Visit
Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor, has departed from New York for Dhaka, concluding a nine-day visit to the United States.
The Emirates Airlines flight carrying Professor Yunus and his delegation left John F. Kennedy International Airport at 11:00 PM local time on Tuesday (Wednesday morning in Bangladesh).
During his visit, Professor Yunus delivered a speech at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 26. On September 30, he spoke at the opening session of a high-level conference at UN Headquarters addressing the situation of Rohingya Muslims and other minorities in Myanmar.
Earlier, on September 29, he held a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres. On the same day, he also met separately with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and UN High Representative for Least Developed, Landlocked, and Small Island States, Rabab Fatima Yunus.
While in New York, Professor Yunus attended a reception hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump, where he extended an invitation for Trump to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.
In addition, he held bilateral meetings with representatives and heads of state from several countries, including the Netherlands, Pakistan, Bhutan, and Kosovo.
