Amid ongoing heatwaves in various parts of the country, some regions are also experiencing sudden thunderstorms and rainfall. According to the latest 120-hour weather forecast issued Wednesday morning (April 16), scattered thunderstorms with gusty winds and lightning are expected in parts of Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and in isolated areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, and Chattogram divisions. There is also a chance of isolated hailstorms in some places.

The forecast notes that a trough of low pressure extends over West Bengal and adjoining areas, while the seasonal low lies over the South Bay of Bengal. As a result, similar weather patterns may continue across these divisions, including occasional lightning and rain.

From Thursday (April 17), parts of Mymensingh and Sylhet may again see scattered showers with gusts, as well as occasional lightning, while other divisions may face isolated rain or thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures may drop slightly, while nighttime temperatures are likely to remain steady.

On Friday (April 18), scattered rainfall is predicted for parts of Khulna, Rajshahi, and Dhaka divisions, while isolated rain or thunderstorms may occur in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barisal, Chattogram, and Sylhet. Daytime temperatures might slightly decline, but nights will remain unchanged.

Saturday’s (April 19) forecast suggests possible thunderstorms with gusty winds across parts of all eight divisions. Day temperatures may remain stable while night temperatures might rise slightly.

By Sunday (April 20), similar scattered rain, thunder, and possible hailstorms are expected in Mymensingh, Sylhet, and isolated areas of the remaining divisions. Both daytime and nighttime temperatures may rise slightly across the country.
