Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat routes resumed at 7:30 AM on Monday (December 23) after being suspended for six hours due to dense fog. According to Nasir Mahmud Chowdhury, DGM of BIWTC’s Aricha regional office, ferry operations were halted at 12:30 AM on the Paturia-Daulatdia route and 1:00 AM on the Aricha-Kazirhat route as visibility dropped significantly, making navigation risky.
During the suspension, four ferries—Birshreshtha Ruhul Amin, Kapot, Shah Paran, and Birshreshtha Matiur Rahman—were anchored mid-river with passengers and vehicles. Additionally, five ferries—Cumilla, Bonolota, Dr. Golam Mawla, Keramat Ali, and Hasnahena—were docked at Paturia, while two others—Baigar and Birshreshtha Jahangir—remained at Daulatdia. Ferries at Aricha and Kazirhat also anchored, loaded with vehicles, waiting for conditions to improve.
