Diplomatic Move: Dhaka Seeks Hasina’s Extradition from Delhi

Sheikh Hasina, who fled amidst mass uprisings, is being sought for return by Dhaka, which has officially communicated the request to Delhi. On Monday, December 23, Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain confirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had issued a note verbale to the Indian government, requesting Sheikh Hasina’s repatriation to face legal proceedings. Earlier in the day, at a medal ceremony marking Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Day in Pilkhana, Interim Government’s Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated that steps had been initiated to coordinate with India under the prisoner extradition agreement to bring her back.
